Glažuta (; (ドイツ語:Karlshütten)〔Ferenc, Mitja. 2007. ''Nekdanji nemški jezikovni otok na kočevskem''. Kočevje: Pokrajinski muzej, p. 4.〕 or ''Karlshütte'',〔''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 35.〕 Gottschee German: ''Gloschhittn''〔Petschauer, Erich. 1980. "Die Gottscheer Siedlungen – Ortsnamenverzeichnis." In ''Das Jahrhundertbuch der Gottscheer'' (pp. 181–197). Klagenfurt: Leustik.〕) is a small remote village in the Municipality of Loški Potok in southern Slovenia. It no longer has any permanent residents. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.〔(Loški Potok municipal site )〕 ==Name== The name ''Glažuta'' is relatively common in Slovenia and is ultimately derived from Middle High German ''glashütte'' 'glassworks'.〔Bezlaj, France. 1977. ''Etimološki slovar slovenskega jezika'', vol. 1 (A–J). Ljubljana: Slovenska akademija znanosti in umetnosti, p. 145.〕 The standard German name ''Karlshütte(n)'' literally means 'Karl's (glass)works' and is a reference to Prince Karl of Auersperg.〔Valenčič, Vlado. 1957 "Še nekaj steklarn na Kranjskem." ''Kronika'' 5(2): 61–68.〕 The Gottschee German name ''Gloschhittn'' is cognate with standard German ''Glashütte(n)'' 'glassworks'.
